Women have always been magical to me. When I was taken out to eat as a little boy, I noticed that the women got salads while everyone else ordered good things like pizza or hamburgers. I reasoned that once girls got to be a certain age, their taste buds changed and salads began to taste like pizza or hamburgers to them. As I got older, I realized that this was nonsense. However, I saw other things in women that I continue to regard as magical and very different from the reality of men. I often try to see things from a woman’s perspective. I believe that Curtis Mayfield attempted to do the same when he wrote The Staple Singers’ Let’s Do It Again (1975). I believe that he hit the bull’s-eye. I suppose that only women could say for sure. Nevertheless, this song ranks quite high on my list of the greatest songs ever made.
