Whenever I ask a self-proclaimed Sheila E. fan about Next Time Wipe The Lipstick Off Your Collar (1984), I almost always get a blank stare. I regard this as her magnum opus. This song is from her debut album, The Glamorous Life (1984). It happens to be the only song I can recall that makes me grateful for the accordian’s invention. I cannot help but to empathize with her as she confides distress through lyrics that move every fiber of my being. Sheila renders me helpless as I succumb to her charm. I end up bearing her burden and it wrecks me. I am a sucker every time.
