October Sky

It was not until I reached early adulthood that I understood the importance of the family film. I grew up in the 1980s and drive-in theaters were still abundant in various parts of Los Angeles County. I was always up for the drive-ins. I was the only member of my family to never fall asleep during a movie. These are my favorite childhood memories. Films have always been magical to me. I can only reason that I had little appreciation for family films because very few of the films that I grew up watching could qualify as such. I just finished watching October Sky (1999) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This film touches the hearts of all ages. If you are looking for a film that the whole family can enjoy, I highly recommend this one. I imagine that my favorite childhood memories would have been even more special if everyone else had stayed awake with me.
