Friendship

Friendship is a unique kind of love. It can make you feel closer to a neighbor than you do to a sibling. I do not accept that this scenario indicates a breakdown in a family’s purpose or objectives. Familial roles do not dictate how close we will be with relatives. Friendship does. It liberates us from becoming confined to relationships based upon circumstance or socially accepted definitions. For many people, pets have taken the place of children. Friendship allows for such relationships to develop. A rat can be the best friend that a little boy ever had. Michael Jackson’s Ben is a captivating song about friendship that is very close to my heart. Its message is almost as beautiful as the enchanting voice that delivers it.
